Mosier making waves

Loyola press release - May 17, 2006

Loyola University New Orleans Professor of English John Mosier, Ph.D., will sign copies of his book on the German Army, Cross of Iron, which has received much attention in the literary and scholarly world. The book, to be released on D-Day, will be the topic of Mosier’s lecture, to be held at the National D-Day Museum on Saturday, June 10, 2006,

from 1 – 4 p.m.

Leading historian and author of The Illusion of Victory: America in World War I, Thomas Fleming says of Mosier’s book, “this is a book that will confound almost everyone’s assumptions about both world wars. The squawks will be loudest in London, Paris, and Moscow. It also explains how and why the German Army consistently outfought its enemies—and ultimately lost.”

Another book by Mosier, Grant, about the generalship of Ulysses S. Grant, is being blurbed by Newt Gingrich, in addition to earlier praise by the noted Civil War historian Charles Flood. Grant is also being released in June.

The French publishing firm, Editions Autrement, has bought the rights to Mosier’s The Blitzkrieg Myth, and will publish it in a French translation in 2007.
