Donald E. Powell Will Speak at Loyola’s Annual CBA Luncheon

(New Orleans)— Federal Coordinator of Gulf Coast Rebuilding Donald E. Powell will speak at the Loyola University New Orleans 21^st Annual College of Business Luncheon on Thursday, April 20, 2006, in the Waterbury Ballroom at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.

The alumni of the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business Administration gather at their annual luncheon to reminisce about their time at Loyola, discuss current events at their alma mater, and honor their colleagues who have made worthwhile contributions to the CBA. This year, the CBA alumni of the year are Barry, G’82, and Teresa Villars, G’82, LeBlanc, and the young alumnus of the year is Robért LeBlanc, B’00. Powell will be the featured keynote speaker at the luncheon.

As the Federal Coordinator of Gulf Coast Rebuilding, Powell’s tasks include developing a long-term rebuilding plan for the region in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma, coordinating the federal efforts, and helping state and local officials reach consensus on their vision for the region.

Powell has close to 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, including his four year service as the 18^th Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He has served on a variety of boards, and he has a long history of community service. Powell received his bachelor of science degree in economics from West Texas State University and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

Tickets are $35 for alumni from the classes of 2000 – 2005, $40 for friends and alumni from the classes of 1999 and prior, and $400 for a table for ten, with sponsor listing in program if received by April 12, 2006.
