ExxonMobil Provides $1.7 Million in Departmental Grants to 87 Universities for Academic Programs

Loyola press release - November 8, 2006

(New Orleans)ľExxonMobil announced today that $1.7 million has been contributed in departmental grants to 87 colleges and universities throughout the country to support various academic programs. Through this program, Loyola University New Orleans will receive $2100 from ExxonMobil.

The grant allows selected academic departments to allocate the money for various educational purposes including scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers, equipment purchases, student and faculty travel to academic-related activities, and other educational projects. ExxonMobil awards the grants based on schools that offer degrees in subjects from which it recruits employees.

ôSupporting higher education has always been a strong priority for ExxonMobil,ö said Amy Patton, Global Recruiting Organization, ExxonMobil. ôThis program enables us to provide funding to colleges and universities who play a pivotal role in preparing students to enter the workforce. ExxonMobil is proud to provide support to Loyola University of New Orleans which will help to enhance departments whose academic focus aligns with the workforce needs of ExxonMobil.ö

The amount of the grant is based on several factors including the number of employees graduated from the specific university.

The Departmental Grants program represents only a portion of the ExxonMobilĺs overall support of education. In 2005, ExxonMobil Foundation, Exxon Mobil Corporation, and its divisions and affiliates provided $42 million in contributions to educational initiatives worldwide.
