Celebrate the Season with a Loyola Tradition

Loyola press release - November 19, 2006

(New Orleans) – Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Fine Arts will host its annual holiday gathering, “Christmas at Loyola,” on Sunday, December 10, at 3 p.m., in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall. The concert features Loyola Choirs under the direction of Elizabeth Rota, The Loyola Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Allen Nisbet, and the Loyola Brass Ensemble under the direction of Jeremy Brekke. A reception will follow immediately after the performance. The event is free and open to the public.

The annual concert is a mixture of classical Christmas music and traditional Christmas carols and hymns. The program will start with a chorus and brass opening of ‘Personent Hodie’ and include works such as ‘Christmas Cantata,’ by Pinkham, ‘Laudi alla Vergine Maria,’ by Verdi, along with classical selections performed by the string and brass ensembles. Familiar carol arrangement sing-a-longs are interspersed throughout the program.
