Fifth Annual Wolves on the Prowl National Community Service Day

Loyola press release - October 25, 2006

(New Orleans)ŚLoyola University New Orleans students and alumni will gather for the fifth annual Wolves on the Prowl on Saturday, November 4, 2006. Wolves on the Prowl is a day of community service, with projects throughout the New Orleans area and in chapter cities across the country.

Volunteers will meet on the Loyola campus in the Peace Quad for an opening prayer at 8 a.m. Buses will depart shortly thereafter for Habitat for Humanityĺs house building site in Slidell, Catholic Charitiesĺ Helping Hands house-gutting, sheet-rocking in St. Bernard Parish, City Park clean-up, and Chateau de Notre Dame nursing home where volunteers will spend the day interacting with nursing home residents. A sixth group will stay on campus for a field day with children from The Good Shepherd School and Project CARE.

The Wolves on the Prowl tradition supports Loyolaĺs call for social justice and the Jesuit ideal of ômen and women with and for others.ö Participants will seek perspective on their service through group and personal reflection. Reflection, an Ignatian value, gives meaning to action.

The Student Government Association is coordinating the local effort, while the Office of Alumni & Parent Relations is overseeing the national projects. Members from the student and alumni communities will help lead the individual projects.

SGA and the Alumni Office will provide transportation, food, and water for all participants. The first 250 volunteers to meet in the Peace Quad will also receive a free Wolves on the Prowl T-shirt. For a complete listing of activities around the county, please see the following website: http://alumni.loyno.edu/wolvesontheprowl/wolves_prowl_2006.html.
