The School of Law at Loyola University New Orleans hosts a noteworthy event. His Excellency Ivan Vujacic, Ph.D., ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro in the United States, will visit Loyola’s School of Law on Wednesday, March 23, at 4 p.m. in Room 112 of the law school, 526 Pine St. The topic of the ambassador's talk is “Challenges Facing Serbia and Montenegro.”

Before becoming ambassador, Vujacic taught economics at the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia. In 1990, Vujacic joined the Democratic Party at its founding convention. He was elected to the Federal Parliament where he served from 1992 to 1996, and from 1994 to 1996, he acted as whip. In addition to his extensive political career, Vujacic helped found the G17 group of independent economists and served on the G17Plus Board of Directors. He also joined the Center for Liberal Democratic Studies, an independent think tank, in 1999.

He earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Belgrade in 1989. He also did research at the London School of Economics and attended the University of Michigan as a Fulbright scholar in 1983.
