Loyola Admissions Staff Participates in Rebuilding New Orleans

Loyola press release - December 19, 2005

(New Orleans) When not trying to recruit new students, the Loyola University New Orleans Office of Admissions is out helping the New Orleans community rebuild. The staff has generated a new idea for a holiday party. Instead of having a traditional holiday party, the admissions staff has decided to give back to the New Orleans community.

New Orleans needs able and young volunteers now more than ever, and we are all in need of some time to regroup and reconnect, said Admissions Counselor Sarah Spooner.

Approximately 20 people from the admissions office will help pack books at Henry W. Allen Elementary School to be brought to the newly opened schools on the Westbank on Monday, December 19, from 1- 4 p.m. The staff will also be inviting their significant others and friends to help out.

I was very proud that my staff came up with this all on their own. Their idea reflects the generosity they have and their commitment to rebuilding New Orleans, said Dean of Admissions Debbie Stieffel.
