A & S Forum continues its exploration of Brown v Board of Education decision

Loyola press release - January 14, 2005

The Arts and Sciences Forum, a year-long faculty-led intellectual exploration, continues its look at the 1954 Brown v Board of Education decision. Professor Gerald Rosenberg of the University of Chicago, author of The Hollow Hope: Can Courts Bring About Social Change? will give a lecture, “Mythmaker, Mythmaker, Make Me a Myth: Brown and the Creation of American Ideology.” Responses will be given by Loyola University Associate Professor of Political Science Peter Burns, and John Borkowski, an attorney with the Washington D.C., law firm of Hogan and Hartson. Borkowski has argued several school desegregation cases. Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Grant Kaplan will moderate.

The discussion will take place Wednesday, January 26, at 7 p.m. in the Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
