Alumni Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is offered exclusively to the child, stepchild or grandchild of a Loyola University New Orleans alumnus/a. Up to $5,000 may be individually awarded and applied toward tuition, books, additional student fees, or room and board. Last year, $18,000 in scholarship money was awarded to seven deserving students.

Minimum eligibility requirements are:

Candidate must be the child, stepchild, or grandchild of a Loyola University New Orleans alumnus/a; Candidate will be judged upon academic record, must have at least a cumulative 2.5 grade point average; Candidate must be a full-time student (non graduating senior) currently enrolled at Loyola University New Orleans; Financial need.

Additional requirements:

Candidate must submit a cover letter outlining his/her experience at Loyola and need for this scholarship (please include in the cover letter any factors that might uniquely qualify the candidate for this scholarship) along with a written resume listing: cumulative Loyola grade point average; expected graduation date and degree major; campus leadership; community service and civic activities; documented financial need; name and class of parent, stepparent, or grandparent who graduated from Loyola University New Orleans.

Legacy information along with grade point average and financial need will be verified upon receipt of the resume application by the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, Loyola University New Orleans.

Deadline for submitting an application is noon, Monday, March 17, 2003. Resumes and cover letters should be mailed to the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, 7214 St. Charles Avenue Campus Box 909, New Orleans, LA 70118. Attention: Wendy Michell, A’70, scholarship chair.

Funding for this scholarship is a direct result of revenue generated from the MBNA America Loyola University New Orleans Alumni Association credit card program.

Finalists will be judged based upon resume application criteria, financial need and individual interviews with the scholarship committee. All decisions made by the committee are final.
