"Speak Your Piece for Peace" gathering at Loyola University Thursday, February 13

(New Orleans)—As part of the National Jesuit Day of Peace, a diverse group of students, staff, administrators and faculty at Loyola University New Orleans will gather together to reflect and pray for peace on Thursday, February 13 at 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the Marquette Hall Horseshoe. “Speak Your Piece for Peace” will be a forum for members of the campus community to speak briefly about their feelings about the threat of war in the Middle East. Member of the public are invited to attend this service.

This event is part of a nationwide outpouring within the Jesuit university system of testament and affirmation about the need for peace. Twenty-five of the twenty-eight Jesuit universities in the U.S. are having prayer services, Masses for peace, lectures and handing out ribbons for peace on February 13. The remaining three schools will have events in the near future.

Sponsors of the prayer service include University Ministry, the Jesuit Center and an ad hoc committee for peace with members from students, staff, faculty and administrators. Music for the Loyola event will be provided by members of the University Ministry staff and College of Music students.
