Loyola Duo Named NAIA Academic All-American

Loyola's Doug Neill and Tory Western were named NAIA Academic All-American the school announced today. Neill, a senior first baseman from Rummel High School in Metairie, finished the season with a .357 batting average with 10 home runs and 45 RBI. His ten home runs on the year are second on the Loyola single season list. He set the Loyola single season record in runs scored this season with 55, hits with 80, and tied the mark for doubles with 19. He has also set Loyola career records in RBI, hits, and runs during his four years with the Wolfpack. Neill graduated in May with a 3.76 GPA, while majoring in computer science.
Western, a junior third baseman and pitcher from Jesuit High School in New Orleans, finished the season with a .267 batting average with 40 runs scored and 23 RBI. He also had a 6-4 record with a 4.82 ERA in 80.1 innings pitched. He also led the Wolfpack in strikeouts with 74. Western has a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in accounting.
