Loyola University New Orleans Professor Featured on History Channel
Loyola press release - March 6, 2002
John Mosier, English professor at Loyola University New Orleans, will be the guest on the History Channel's Movies in Time on March 25. Movies in Time features two authorities commenting a film during an intermission and again at the end of the film. Mosier will be commenting on The Lost Battalion starring Rick Schroeder. The Lost Battalion is the true story of U.S. soldiers -- a group of Irish, Italian, Jewish, and Polish gangsters from New York who were trapped behind enemy lines in WWI and fought heroically against the odds. The movie airs at 8 p.m. CST. John will explain what is important about the film historically, what viewers should be looking for, why the film is important, and what about it seemed particularly authentic. Mosier's book, The Myth of the Great War: A New Military History of WWI was published last summer and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
