Loyola press release - March 13, 2002

(New Orleans)—The last fundraiser event at St. Elizabeth's, as owned by Stan and Anne Rice, the Spring Salon, will be the Loyola University New Orleans City College Alumni Board scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 7 p.m. The fundraiser will feature a cocktail party with food, music and a silent auction. St. Elizabeth's is located at 1314 Napoleon Ave.

The proceeds from this event will be used to finance Loyola scholarships for adult students in the Greater New Orleans area. These scholarships directly benefit the area workforce by assisting highly motivated adults who seek to improve or enhance their educational credentials and professional skills.

Cost for the event is $25 per person. For more information about the event, contact the Loyola University City College office, 865-3530.

Two City College alumni will receive 2002 Distinguished Alumni Awards at the fundraiser. Judith Baiamonte Stromme, C'96, will be recognized as the president of the alumni board from 1998-2001. Her efforts to conceptualize and chair the Spring Salon event, as well as serving as the first chair in 2001, have helped to raise over $30,000 for adult student scholarships.

J. Michael Brown, C'91, president and CEO of Automated Technology Machines, Inc., headquartered in New Orleans, will also receive the 2002 Distinguished Community Alumnus Award. This award is presented to the alumnus whose contributions to his/her community merit special recognition.
