Loyola University New Orleans student named one of the Top 25 Most Promising Minority Advertising Students in the nation

(New Orleans)óDerika Legg, a senior majoring in advertising, Spanish and religious studies at Loyola University New Orleans, was honored as one of the 25 most promising minority advertising students in the country by the American Advertising Foundation, the educational affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), in partnership with Advertising Age. Legg was recognized at a luncheon on February 8, 2002 in New York City.

This program is the premier advertising industry award and is used to recruit minority college graduates in advertising, marketing and communications to the advertising industry and to help meet the industry's need for a multicultural workforce. Program finalists were flown, all expenses paid, to New York City to meet with recruiters and executives from the industry.

Legg a Dunedin, Florida native, is a University Honors Program student and extremely active on campus. In the Loyola University "Proud to be Part of the Pack" pride campaign, Legg served as the driving force behind the program's success. She created the campaign's logo, ads, spirit events and promotional items. She has served as the captain of the women's rugby team and received the intramural sportsmanship award in 2001. After graduation, Legg hopes to join the Peace Corps and travel to South America.

The AAF is the advertising trade association that represents the industry in its entirety. AAF has 130 corporate members and a national network of 210 ad clubs, home to over 50,000 advertising professionals.
