Law professor and family honored with Legacy award at University of Missouri-Kansas City

Loyola University New Orleans School of Law Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Law, the Rev. Lawrence Moore, S.J., and his family were honored with the Legacy Award from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Moore, who received a juris doctor in 1981 from UMKC, was the eighth member of his family to graduate from the university, dating back to 1899. At an alumni celebration in October at UMKC, Moore, his sister, Kathryn, and brother, Stephen, all graduates, accepted the award on behalf of their parents, grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle. The award not only recognizes the Moore’s lineage, but the family’s outstanding service to the university.

Moore joined the Loyola law faculty in 1981. From 1990-1996, he was rector of the Jesuit community. He has served on the Board of Trustees of Loyola since 1985, and he currently is secretary/treasurer of the board.
