Law Students organize fundraiser for Crescent House Battered Shelter
Loyola press release - November 22, 2002
(New Orleans)—Two upperclassmen at the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law are spearheading a fundraiser for the Crescent House Battered Women’s Shelter, scheduled for Wednesday 27, 2002, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Hanger Room of the Rendon Inn, 4501 Eve St. Each ticket is $5 and the public is encouraged to attend. All proceeds from the event will benefit the women and children of Crescent House. The event will offer music, food, and fun!
In the Jesuit tradition of being men and women for others, students Dory Tarver and Jennifer Cummings have joined efforts to help the shelter’s occupants. According to Tarver, all of the pieces just came together to make this event happen. For example, Cummings husband plays in the Blue Collar Union Band that will perform without pay for the evening, the Rendon Inn is donating the room, and Choice Copy Service is donating fliers to promote the event. This way, 100 percent of ticket sales, and all monetary or gift donations will go directly to the shelter. Tickets are available at the door the night of the event.
