Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business Administration Makes US News list of Best Business Programs

Loyola press release - September 27, 2001

(New Orleans)—Loyola University New Orleans' Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business Administration (CBA) makes U.S. News and World Report list of Best Business Programs. This is the first year that Loyola's College of Business has appeared in the national list.

Loyola's business school tied for a ranking of 130 in the nation. A total of 382 business schools were eligible for national ranking, and only 148 made the U.S. News list. The best business program category ranks the country's top undergraduate business programs. This ranking can aid prospective corporate executives and entrepreneurs in their search for the right school for their undergraduate study of business. To determine these rankings, U.S. News surveyed officials at the undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), asking deans and senior faculty to rate the quality of all programs with which they are familiar. About 48 percent of those surveyed responded.

Based upon the ratings, Loyola's CBA rank places it in the company of Bowling Green State University, Seton Hall University, Creighton University, the University of New Hampshire, and Mississippi State University, among others.

According to Dean O'Brien, "We are extremely pleased to receive national recognition as one of the best undergraduate business programs in the nation. This recognition is something the faculty has worked hard for over the past several years. It is a reflection of the superb faculty, students and programs that we have in the College of Business."

Loyola University New Orleans was chartered in 1912 and the College of Business Administration was established in 1947. The College is accredited at the undergraduate and graduate levels by AACSB, the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business. The CBA offers bachelors' degrees with majors in accounting, economics, finance, international business, management, and marketing. It also offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a joint MBA and Juris Doctor degree. Visit the College of Business Administration at http://cba.loyno.edu/.
