Loyola University New Orleans Presents Student Leadership Awards

(New Orleans)—The Center for Student Leadership at Loyola University New Orleans held the nineteenth annual Leadership Banquet on April 25 in appreciation of the excellent leadership and service given by students and faculty to Loyola. Over 200 student leaders and organizational advisors attended the banquet.

The Spirit of Loyola Awards were established by the Center for Student Leardership Development to recognize broad areas of achievement and leadership which contribute to the quality of life at Loyola.

The following awards were presented:

  • Spirit of Loyola for International Understanding—Bradley Boovy (Metairie, La.)
  • Spirit of Loyola for Racial Understanding—Percy Marchand (New Orleans)
  • Spirit of Loyola for Outstanding Organizational Advisor—Ellen Jackson (New Orleans)
  • Spirit of Loyola for Exceptional Community Leadership by an Individual—Zishan Michael (New Orleans)
  • Spirit of Loyola for Exceptional Community Leadership by an Organization—Student Government Association
  • Rev. James C. Carter, S.J., Spirit of Loyola for Exceptional Leadership by an Individual—Ryan Holmes (Shreveport, La.)
  • The Joseph A. Danna Center Award—Khai Nguyen (New Orleans)
  • Intramural Sportsmanship Award—Derika Legg (Dunedin, Fla.)
  • Intramural Sportsmanship Award—Brent Hernandez (New Orleans)
  • Intramural Male Athlete of the Year—James O’Malley (Chicago)
  • Intramural Female Athlete of the Year—Tanya Wattigney (Marrero, La.)
  • Mary Ann Reising Flynn Scholarship—Erin Ballard (Yakima, Wash.)
  • Rev. Ransom Marlow, S.J., Residential Life—Charlotte Lutz (Converse, Texas)
