(New Orleans)The Joseph A. Butts College of Business Administration (CBA) was recently named a winner of the 2001 Louisiana Quality Award.

The Louisiana Quality Award recognizes quality leadership in profit and non-profit Louisiana organizations that meet award criteria benchmarks, instill quality awareness and practices, and make quality achievements in Louisiana. Since the establishment of the award in 1995, there have only been seven recipients. The CBA is the first educational institution to receive the distinction.

"Receipt of this award is a tremendous accomplishment by the full faculty, staff, and administration of the College," says Dean of the College of Business, Pat O'Brien. "It is a reflection of the efforts we have made over a number of yeas to vision, to plan, to assess, and to continuously improve."

The Louisiana Quality Award is sponsored by the Louisiana Productivity Center, and initiated by a group of statewide quality professionals with the vision of providing recognition for deserving organizations. The award is intended to increase quality awareness in Louisiana, to promote growth of the Louisiana economy, to recognize successes of Louisiana organizations, to promote continuous improvement, and to create globally recognized organizations within the state.

The CBA and the National Guard, this year's second recipient of the Louisiana Quality Award, will be honored among all qualifying applicants at a reception on Nov. 30 at the Sheraton in Baton Rouge. The Honorable Hunt Downer will be the keynote speaker and assist in the presentation of the award.
