Loyola University at the Big Easy Entertainment Awards

The Big Easy Entertainment Awards recognizes the contributions of individuals and groups to the cultural life and rich rewards of living in New Orleans. Loyola University, New Orleans was well represented in the 1999 nominations and awards.

Nominated for Best University Theatre Production, Tintypes directed by Ricky Graham with musical direction by Dane Evans and produced by the Department of Drama and Speech was represented at the awards ceremony by Georgia Gresham, Chair, students Melanie Clark, Heather Stickney, Nick Thompson, Scott Edwards, Sarah Jane McMahon, Chrissy Garrett and business manager David Dahlgren.

Performances of Loyola alumni and students were recognized in many other categories. Michael Cahill Ĺ80 won Best Supporting Actor in a Play for his role in The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Eva Earls Ĺ88 won Best supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance in Guys and Dolls. Loyola alumnus Gavin Mahlie ĺ86 was nominated Best Actor in a Play (Comedy or Drama) for Itĺs A Wonderful Life. Junior Sarah Jane McMahon was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical. The cast of Filumena, which won Best Comedy, included alumnus Kara Hadigan Ĺ98 and senior Nick Thompson Ĺ00. Adjunct assistant professor Francine Segal was nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Maria Callas in Master Class.
