Shakespeare's The Tempest To Be Presented At Loyola on March 17-26

Loyola press release - February 22, 2000

(New Orleans)One of Shakespeares most popular romantic comedies will be the major Spring 2000 production of the Loyola Department of Drama and Speech. The Tempest will run in Marquette Theater on March 17-26. It will be directed by Ricky Graham.

The Tempest is a bittersweet tale of a family divided, then re-united by love. Along the way, the characters encounter a helpful fairy, a monster, a tropical storm and enough romance and intrigue to delight any audience.

"Weve decided to set this production in Hollywood in the 1930s, a time of glamour and romance, which is an era that fits the play very well," says Graham.

"Shakespeare's works are always very successful for us," added Georgia Gresham, chair of the drama and speech department, " and were very happy to have Ricky back as a guest director. Im sure we can count on him to add his own special creative magic to this project."

The Tempest will run in Marquette Theater, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, on March 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25 at 8 p.m., and March 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students, seniors and Loyola faculty. Group discounts are available. For more information, call 865-3840.
