Loyola press release - October 9, 2000

(New Orleans)ŚLoyola University New Orleans College of Music presents The Loyola Chorale under the direction of Dr. Meg Hulley. The concert is set for Sunday, October 22 at 3:00 p.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall located in the Music/Communications Complex at the corner of Calhoun Street and St. Charles Avenue.

Admission is free and open to the public. Additional information is available through Loyola's ticket box office at 865-3492.

The concert will feature choral works by Josef Rheinberger, Randall Thompson, Henk Badings, Trond Kverno, Dante Andreo, Eric Whitacre, Bill Whelan, John Lennon/Paul McCartney, and spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan.

"The program is called 'Songs of Heaven and Earth,' and is a collection of mostly twentieth-century choral music with a 'nature' theme. There is a nice variety of music here, from double chorus pieces (Rheinberger and Thompson), to settings of poetry by Octavio Paz and Federico Garcia Lorca. We've added a 'popular' component, too, with the selection from Riverdance, Lennon and McCartney's 'Blackbird,' and Moses Hogan spirituals," according to Hulley.
