Loyola University College of Music presents the Loyola Symphony Orchestra with solo violinist Valerie Poullete in concert on Nov. 5th

(New Orleans)ŚLoyola University New Orleans College of Music presents the Loyola Symphony Orchestra under the direction of L. Dean Angeles. The concert is set for Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 p.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall located in the Music/Communications Complex at the corner of Calhoun Street and St. Charles Avenue.

Angeles will lead the orchestra through works by Berlioz and Shostakovich. Violinist Valerie Poullette will be the featured soloist on the Barber Violin Concerto.

Poullette, a past first violinist with the New Orleans Philharmonic, is the violin instructor at Loyola University College of Music in New Orleans. In addition to performing solo recitals, she

serves as violinist in the New Orleans/Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra and the Tulane Summer Lyric Orchestra. She has also performed as soloist with the Jefferson Chamber Orchestra and the First Monday Contemporary Music Ensemble. Having attended the Peabody Conservatory, Boston University, Loyola University New Orl eans, and the Music Academy of the West, she received coaching in chamber music from Leon Fleisher, Eugene Lehner, Walter Trampler, and Lawrence Lesser. Her violin teachers have included Berl Senofsky, Joseph Silverstein, and Mitchell Stern.
