Loyola University New Orleans Announces Biever Lecture Series for the fall semester

(New Orleans)Loyola University New Orleans fall 1999 Biever Lecture Series is will include academic scholars and interesting speakers.

To begin the series, Dr. Joan Tronto of Hunter College and City University of New York will lecture on "Whats Wrong With the Work Ethic?" The lecture will be held Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at 7 p.m. in Monroe Hall Room 157. For additional information, please contact Professor Eric Gorham at 865-3361.

Dr. Carol Hurd Green of Boston College will lecture on "Love, Politics, and Motherhood: New York, 1940s 1970s." Dr. Greens lecture is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. in the Womens Center located on Loyolas main campus at 6363 St. Charles Ave. For additional information, please contact Professor Mary McCay at 865-3389.

Pavel Palazchenko, translator and advisor to the president for International and Media Relations for the Gorbachev Foundation in Moscow, comes to campus on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999 at 7 p.m in Nunemaker Auditorium. Dr. Paul Ewald of Amherst College will lecture on "Whats Catching: The Startling Scope on Infectious Diseases and Their Evolutionary Solutions," on Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium. For additional information, please contact Professor G. R. Green at 865-3284.

Dr. Aurelio de los Reyes of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico will lecture on "The Idea of Nation Through Music in Mexican Cinema." The Tibetan Nuns of Kathmandu also have scheduled a performance on "Traditional Tibetan Music and Dance" for the Biever Lecture Series. Yossi Lemel, a poster designer from Tel Aviv, Israel, will present a lecture and exhibition on "Both Sides of Peace: Israeli and Palestinian Political Poster Art" sponsored by the Biever Lecture Series and New Orleans chapter of American Institue of Graphic Art. The exhibition and lecture, co-curated by Lemel, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at 6:30 in Nunemaker Auditorium with a reception to follow in the Visual Arts Center Gallery on the fourth floor of the J.
