Loyola press release - September 28, 1999
(New Orleans)—Loyola University New Orleans College of Music presents the Eroica Trio. The concert is set for Wednesday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall located in the Music/Communications Complex at the corner of Calhoun Street and St. Charles Avenue.
Audiences around the world respond with standing ovations to what critics call the "gusto" and "heart stopping mastery" of the Eroica Trio. Pianist Erika Nickrenz, violinist Adela Peña, and cellist Sara Sant'Ambrogio make up the trio. Whether they are playing the great standards of the piano trio repertoire or daring contemporary works, the three striking young women who make up this world-class chamber ensemble electrify the concert stage with their combination of technical virtuosity, vivid artistic interpretation, and contagious exuberance in performance. Their debut, self-titled compact disc recording won the coveted National Public Radio 1998 Performance Today Award® for Debut Recording of the Year.
The program will feature Jean-Baptiste Loeillet's Sonate à trois No. 2 in B minor, Raimundo Penaforte's An Eroica Trio (1999), Astor Piazzolla's Oblivion and Revolucionario, and Antonín Dvorák's Trio in E minor, Op. 90 ("Dumky").
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students, faculty and staff. Tickets are available through Loyola's ticket box office at 865-3492. For more information, contact Reid Wick at (504) 865-2074, or via e-mail at email@example.com.
