Loyola University New Orleans announces staff changes

(New Orleans)óLoyola University New Orleans President, the Rev. Bernard P. Knoth, S.J., announces the following administrative changes.

James Klebba, J.D., associate dean for academic affairs for the School of Law, has been named interim dean. Klebba replaces outgoing Dean John Makdisi who leaves his post July 31 to take over the deanship of St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami.

Klebba began his career with Loyola in 1973 and has served eight of these years in administration, including an appointment as interim dean in 1989. He is a nationally respected scholar having been published extensively in leading legal journals and publications. Klebba served on the Law School Committee on Foreign Programs (chair), the Law School Rank and Tenure Committee (chair), Legal Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees, University Budget Committee, University Honorary Degrees Committee, and the Public Law Center Board of Directors.

In recognition to his contribution to the law school, Klebba was invested with the Victor Schiro Professorship of Law in 1993. He received a juris doctor from Harvard Law School in 1967 and a bachelor of arts in political science from St. Johnís University in Collegeville, Minn. Klebba will assume his responsibilities on August 1.

Carol Leake has been appointed chair of the Department of Visual Arts. She has been a professor of visual arts at Loyola since 1986. Leake received a bachelorís degree in fine arts from Newcomb College at Tulane University in 1967, a masterís degree in fine arts from Yale University, and a masterís degree in fine arts from The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 1975. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in New Orleans, Mississippi and Illinois. At Loyola, Leake has served as chair of the Department of Visual Arts Protocol Committee, chair of the visual arts department Gallery Review committee, and chair of the visual arts Visiting Artist Committee.

Christopher Cameron was appointed director of Student Activities. He has served as associate director for the past two years. He has served as the advisor of the University Programming Board, advisor of the Interfraternity Council, and coordinator of Commuter Services. Cameron received a bachelor of arts in international relations and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1991 and a master of education in student personnel services from the University of South Carolina in 1993.
