Loyola’s Crescent City Farmers Market Introduces "Seafood City"

(New Orleans)—Loyola University New Orleans Crescent City Farmers Market introduces a new addition, a year-round "Seafood City" beginning Saturday, March 20, 1999 from 8 a.m. until noon rain or shine.

Seafood delicacies like Belle River crawfish, Des Allemands catfish, crabs, oysters, shrimp, soft shell crabs, tilapia and other seasonal seafood direct from local commercial fishing families will be available every Saturday. Seafood City began on a trial basis on February 20th, and since then over 500 pounds of seafood a week has been sold.

Al Scramuzza, a local seafood aficionado, will help christen the event along with Shrimp Louie the mascot of the Louisiana Seafood Promotions and Marketing board. Chef Susan Spicer of Bayona and Spice Inc., will be on hand at 10 a.m. for a seafood cooking demonstration. Drawings will also be held for Acadian Brewery beer and other merchandise.
