Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy Children’s Book Drive Nov. 10-Dec. 20

(New Orleans)—In time for the holiday’s, the Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy at Loyola University New Orleans is launching a greater New Orleans new and gently used book drive for children living in public housing. The drive began November 10 and runs through December 20, 1999.

New or gently used books for children ages 5 years old and under may be dropped off at any Bank One in Orleans Parish or at the Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy located in the Monroe Library on Loyola’s main campus, 6363 St. Charles Ave.

Books appropriate for children aged 5 years and under may be purchased at a 10 percent discount at the following locations: Maple Street Children’s Bookshop, 7529 Maple Street; The Afro-American Bookstop located in the Plaza shopping center and New Orleans Centre; and Beaucoup Books, 5414 Magazine Street and in Uptown Square.

Beginning November 26, Borders Books and Music, 3131 Veteran’s Memorial Blvd., in Metairie will be offering 20 percent off your entire purchase for participating in their Snow Angels program (some restrictions apply). The books will be collected at all the participating stores and brought to the Boggs center for distribution.

On-line book orders may be delivered to the Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy, Loyola University, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, Box 63, New Orleans, La 70118.
