Loyola University New Orleans is sponsoring a Hurricane Relief Drive

(New Orleans)—Loyola University New Orleans’ Delta Gamma Fraternity, International Students Association and American Marketing Association, in conjunction with the New Orleans Honduran and Nicaraguan Consulates, are running a Hurricane Relief Drive for victims of Hurricane Mitch in Central America and are asking for donations from the local community. The drive starts Friday, November 6 and runs until Friday, November 13.
Drop off boxes will be located in the Danna Center on Loyola’s main campus. The Honduran and Nicaraguan Consulates are asking for canned goods, articles of clothing and shoes. Also in great demand are clothes for children, diapers, baby formula, paper and feminine hygiene products and medicines.
Loyola’s Office of Campus Ministry, located in Bobet Hall on the main campus, is accepting financial donations. Checks must be made out to LUCAP GIFT and list hurricane relief in the memo. Funds will be dispersed by Jesuit organizations in Nicaragua and Honduras, and will be used to purchase medicine and basic necessities.
Hibernia Bank, Whitney Bank and Bank One are also accepting monetary donations. Whitney Bank is accepting funds for Nicaragua. Checks must be made out to the Consulates of Nicaragua/Hurricane Mitch, account number 710739516. Funds for Honduras are being accepted at both Hibernia Bank and Bank One. Checks should be written to the Mitch-Honduras Fund. The account number for Hibernia is 812445731. The account number for Bank One is 5114223984.
