Loyola Preparatory Arts Program offers new dance classes, including 'Thriller' flashmob

Loyola press release - August 19, 2013

Loyola University New Orleans Preparatory Arts Program is expanding this fall to offer three new types of dance classes, including a Michael Jackson-themed flashmob class taught by Loyola ballet alumnus Kenneth “Kynt” Bryan ’99.

The flashmob workshop will take place every Sunday, Sept. 8 to Oct. 27, and will explore choreography from Jackson's legendary “Thriller” and “Beat It” videos. The final performance will take place at a surprise location in New Orleans on Halloween. Bryan will also teach an all-ages hip-hop workshop on Sundays, Sept. 1 to Oct. 20. Registration for the flashmob course is $90, and the hip-hop workshop costs $80. For more information or to register, contact Bryan at 504-453-6991.

Loyola ballet instructor Leigh Brockman will teach a yearlong contemporary dance class, which will borrow elements from classical ballet, modern and jazz dance styles. Classes begin Monday, Sept. 9, and registration is $115 per semester or $12 per class for the public. For more information on the contemporary classes, contact Brockman at 504-460-6807.
