This Sunday: Opera star Elizabeth Futral to perform at Loyola

Elizabeth Futral, a celebrated opera soprano and Covington, La., native, will perform “A Night of Music,” a solo voice recital of her favorite arias, Sunday, July 21 at Loyola University New Orleans. Loyola alumnus Jesse Reeks ’10 will accompany her on piano.
The event begins at 4 p.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street. General admission tickets are $25 and are available in advance or at the door. Patron tickets are $250, which include a seat at the post-performance patron dinner at the St. Charles Avenue home of Deborah Vinson. Futral is well known for her leading roles with the Metropolitan Opera, the Houston Grand, the Chicago Lyric, the San Francisco Opera and the New Orleans Opera.
The concert will benefit Amici, a volunteer-based, nonprofit support group that raises funds for the annual Metropolitan Opera auditions that take place at Loyola. Each year, Amici sends competition winners from the region to the finals in New York. Past regional winners include Charles Anthony ’51, Anthony Laciura ’74, Alfred Walker ’96 and Bryan Hymel ’01, among others.
