Loyola press release - January 14, 2013
The Public Relations Association of Louisiana recognized Loyola University New Orleans professor Cathy Rogers, Ph.D., as the 2012 State Educator of the Year in public relations. Rogers received the association’s newly established award created to honor a full-time faculty member teaching in public relations, journalism or communications. The association presented Rogers with the award at a ceremony Jan. 8.
“I feel very honored to be recognized. I love my work as a professor and feel lucky to have such a rewarding career,” Rogers said. “It’s very satisfying to be recognized on a state level for what I do. I’m also very proud to represent the New Orleans chapter of PRAL in its inaugural year.”
Since joining Loyola in 1990, Rogers has consistently worked with students in prestigious national public relations competitions and has placed Loyola’s School of Mass Communication in the national spotlight.
“Under Dr. Rogers’ leadership, our public relations Bateman Case Study Competition team has won the national Public Relations Student Society of America championship more than any school in the country. Cathy’s commitment to educating young people is outstanding. We are all fortunate and honored to have her as our colleague,” said Sonya F. Duhé, Ph.D., Loyola professor and director of the School of Mass Communication.
The Public Relations Association of Louisiana is a professional association that provides networking and professional development for its members. Members are also included in the Southern Public Relations Federation regional association. Rogers will represent Louisiana in the Southern Public Relations Federation Educator of the Year award competition.
