Loyola press release - October 8, 2012
Loyola University New Orleans has hired Mikel Pak as the associate director of its Office of Public Affairs and External Relations. She will assist with overall media relations for the university as well as provide public relations support to Loyola’s Colleges of Humanities and Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Pak brings more than six years of experience as a public relations professional and journalist, with expertise spanning media relations, marketing, social media, crisis and political communications.
Prior to joining Loyola, she worked as communications manager for Western Growers, an agricultural industry association based in Irvine, Calif. There she worked with regional, trade and national journalists on stories involving the fresh produce industry. Always on the lookout for a great story, she frequently shot and edited Web videos for the organization featuring the farmers who produce the nation’s fresh fruits and vegetables. Pak also worked extensively to support the public policy initiatives of the organization and grassroots communication campaigns.
Prior to her work at Western Growers, Pak served in the communications and media relations department at The Council of State Governments, a trade association reaching more than 20,000 state government leaders and others in all three branches of government. As a journalist, Pak got her start in the newspaper business. She was a business newspaper reporter in North Carolina covering health care, technology, higher education and real estate, among other topics.
Pak will serve as a press contact for Loyola University New Orleans and welcomes calls from journalists and university colleagues at 504-861-5448. You can follow her on Twitter @MikelPak, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
