Upcoming fundraiser to benefit coach Louis 'Rags' Scheuermann Baseball Scholarship
Loyola press release - April 30, 2012
The annual fundraiser honoring longtime Loyola baseball coach Louis “Rags” Scheuermann will be held on Thursday, May 3 from 7-10 p.m. in the Roux Room at Walk On’s Bar and Bistreaux, located at 1009 Poydras Street in downtown New Orleans.
The cost of the event is $60 per person or $100 per couple, with VIP tables available for $1,000. All of the proceeds will go towards funding a scholarship for Wolfpack baseball players.
From 1957 to 1972, Coach Scheuermann led the Wolfpack baseball team to unprecedented heights, winning 234 games and compiling an impressive .649 winning percentage. He passed away in 1997.
Athletic scholarships were eliminated when Loyola disbanded its intercollegiate athletic program in 1972. Loyola brought back athletics in the 1990s and reinstated athletic scholarships in 2004. The Louis “Rags” Scheuermann Scholarship is the first for Wolfpack baseball since the athletic scholarship program was reinstated.
The cost includes a complimentary buffet and valet parking. There will also be a raffle with several gift certificates and a framed and signed Drew Brees poster. Attendees must be over 18.
