Tribute concert helps fund Loyola scholarship, local charities
Loyola press release - December 5, 2011
“A Christmas Concert for Catherine” will be held in Loyola University New Orleans’ Nunemaker Hall on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. and will feature the vocal talents of Loyola’s own Sal Liberto, Crystal Vaccaro and Ken Weber, with a special guest performance by St. Phillip Neri’s Adult Choir.
The concert, a tribute to Liberto’s late mother who was an English teacher and Loyola alumna, is free and open to the public, but attendees can make a donation to the Catherine V. Liberto Scholarship Fund, or bring a new book to donate to Children’s Hospital, or a nonperishable food item for the women’s program at Orleans Parish Court. The Catherine V. Liberto Scholarship Fund is a need-based scholarship for high achieving English majors started by Liberto, Loyola’s vice president for enrollment management.
Liberto will join Vaccaro, associate director of admissions, and Weber, an associate chaplain, in singing original Christmas music along with many traditional favorites. They will also perform their own unique arrangements of well-known songs.
“We will celebrate the season in a dynamic and unique fashion,” Liberto said. “I’m excited that we can express both the joy of Christmas and love and care for others in our show on December 10.”
