Alumni and friends gather to honor the Frohnmayers
Loyola press release - May 31, 2011
The careers of Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Fine Arts vocal faculty members Philip and Ellen Frohnmayer will be honored June 3 - 5 during the “Frohnmayer Reunion and Tribute.”
The reunion weekend will be a time to pay tribute to the Frohnmayers’ legacy as voice professors, to celebrate the incredible achievements of their former students, and of course, to make music. A gala concert will be held Saturday night in Roussel Hall that will include well-loved arias, ensemble pieces, as well as original compositions by pianist Logan Skelton '83 and William Horne, Ph.D., Loyola professor of music. Many distinguished alumni will be performing at this event including internationally renowned Alfred Walker ’96, and Melody Moore ’96.
“In 1982, when the Frohnmayers arrived in New Orleans, they embraced and were embraced by not only the Loyola community, but by the city itself,” said Berta Sabrio ’88 and Suzanne DuPlantis '85, two of Phil Frohnmayer’s original students. “Now, nearly 30 years later, and with Phil resiliently battling cancer for the second time, they are alive to the moment and longing to see all of their students again.”
Those interested in attending should register online at www.alumni.loyno.edu/frohnmayerreunion or call 504-861-5454.
