Loyola press release - May 2, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans announced today that Andre Perry, Ph.D., a national leader in educational reform and co-chair of Mayor Landrieu’s Education Transition team, will become an adviser to its Institute for Quality and Equity in Education.
Luis Mirón Ph.D., dean of Loyola’s College of Social Sciences and director of the institute, said that Perry will begin work in early summer, advising on education initiatives and leading strategic planning to better maximize Loyola’s resources, its academic community, and the research and advocacy needs of the community.
Mirón notes, “The university and the institute in particular are extremely fortunate to recruit someone of Perry’s caliber at a time when education needs are so prominent locally and nationally.”
Loyola’s president agrees. “Perry’s wealth of experience, both in K-12 public education and higher education administration, will serve the university community well as it ponders how best to contribute to the transformation of public education,” said Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D.
