Walker Percy Center screens documentary on namesake

The Walker Percy Center for Writing and Publishing at Loyola University New Orleans will screen award-winning filmmaker and New Orleans native Win Riley’s full-length documentary “Walker Percy: A Documentary Film” on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. in Monroe Hall’s Nunemaker Auditorium. The event is open to the public.
Riley’s documentary accounts Percy's story with archival film, excerpts from Percy's work, and interviews with family, friends and scholars. The film has received numerous accolades and was recently showcased as an original selection at the 2010 New Orleans Film Festival.
The Walker Percy Center honors the memory and contributions of prominent Catholic American author and former Loyola faculty member Walker Percy by encouraging and supporting writers within the New Orleans and Loyola community. The center sponsors periodic reading series, symposia, writing workshops and a summer institute for young writers.
