College of Business named one of nation's best by Princeton Review

The Loyola University New Orleans College of Business has been recognized as one of the nation’s best business schools by The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the school in its 2011 edition of “Best 300 Business Schools,” which hit bookshelves last week.

Robert Franek, vice president of publishing for The Princeton Review, said schools were selected for this honor “based on our high opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book."

Conducted during the 2009 –10, 2008 – 09, and 2007 – 08 academic years, the student surveys were primarily completed online. The Princeton Review does not rank the business schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 300, or name one business school best overall. The list does reflect surveys of 19,000 students attending the 300 business schools profiled in the book.

College of Business Dean William B. Locander, Ph.D., said the designation shows that MBA students and graduates not only feel challenged academically, but are also prepared to succeed once they enter the workforce.

“Loyola provides a unique opportunity for each student to reach his or her full potential and take that experience into any number of fields,” Locander said. “We’ve had recent MBA graduates placed with Chevron, Cox Communications, JPMorgan, the Ochsner Health System, Prudential Financial, and the Target Corporation.”

In August, Loyola was also selected by The Princeton Review as a “Best Southeastern College,” awarded seventh place for “Best College Library,” fourth place for “Lots of Race/Class Interaction,” 15th place for “Easiest Campus to Get Around” and 17th place for “Best Town-Gown Relations.”
