Loyola University 'lets it sneaux' on campus

Loyola press release - December 4, 2009

Despite weather forecasts to the contrary, it will snow on the Loyola University New Orleans campus Thursday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m.

The University Programming Board, a student-run organization that doesn’t control the weather, decided to ship in manufactured snow to cap off the fall semester with a memorable event. All Loyola students and neighbors are invited to “Sneaux@Loyno” to play in 20 tons of the white stuff covering the horseshoe lawn in front of Marquette Hall. Attendees will also be able to make their own mugs, take photographs with Santa and snack on hot chocolate and cookies while listening to Christmas music.

The UPB will start distributing treats and signature T-shirts Monday on campus to spread the word about Sneaux@Loyno as well as other holiday-themed events at Loyola.

“Sneaux is our largest and most attended program of the year,” said Danielle Reid, UPB president. “Not only is it a joy to have a giant snowball fight on St. Charles Avenue, but it is a great way to relieve stress before finals, and get in the spirit of the holidays.”

To arrange coverage of this event, contact Catherine Koppel in the Office of Public Affairs at 504-861-5448 or by e-mail at ckoppel@loyno.edu. For more information on this or other UPB events, contact Elizabeth Coyne, assistant director of co-curricular programs at 504-865-3622 or eacoyne@loyno.edu.
