Institutional Advancement announces four new appointments

Christopher Wiseman, Ph.D., associate vice president for major gifts at Loyola University New Orleans, announces the appointment of four new major gifts officers for Institutional Advancement.
Marcel McGee was promoted to major gifts officer for the College of Music and Fine Arts. McGee has been at Loyola since September 2007, where he served as assistant and associate director of the Annual Fund. McGee brings 14 years of experience in donor relations and fundraising to Loyola, in settings as varied as the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation, American Red Cross-Southeast LA Chapter, the Enterprise Housing Foundation, and the Audubon Nature Institute. McGee, who also served in the United States Navy, graduated from Southern University at New Orleans in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Stephanie Hotard was promoted to major gifts officer for the College of Social Sciences. Hotard joined Loyola in February 2007 as assistant director for stewardship and donor relations. Prior to joining Loyola, Hotard was the Bayou District executive of the Boy Scouts of America, where she directed fundraising, managed more than 300 volunteers and oversaw outreach to existing and new troops. Hotard graduated from Loyola with a major in biological sciences and minors in Latin and chemistry.
Renny Simno was named major gifts officer for Jesuit Mission and Ministry and Wolfpack Athletics. Simno joined the Department of Institutional Advancement in 2000 as the assistant director of alumni and parent relations and public affairs, and was promoted to associate director and then director of alumni and parent relations. Prior to working for Loyola, Simno served as a public relations/media relations intern with the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Zephyrs, and the Sugar Bowl Association. He is a 1998 communications graduate of Loyola.
Suzanne Valtierra, CFRE, was also recently named senior major gifts officer, College of Law. She joined Loyola in May 2003 as the major gifts officer for the College of Music. In addition to her advancement work for the College of Law, Valtierra will assist in the ongoing professional development of staff and the implementation of best practices in Loyola’s advancement work. Prior to Loyola, she worked on the annual fund for the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Valtierra is a 1996 graduate of Tulane University.
These four new officers join two others within Institutional Advancement. Karen Anklam, major gifts officer for the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences since January 2007, will work with Dr. Jo Ann Moran Cruz, incoming dean of the college. Moran Cruz was most recently chair of the Department of History at Georgetown University, as well as its director and co-founder of the Medieval Studies Department. Traci Hamman, CFRE, major gifts officer for the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business since 2006, works with William Locander, Ph.D., dean of the college, who came to Loyola last July.
