Loyola women’s basketball honored by WBCA
Loyola press release - July 21, 2008
Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team was honored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for their achievements in the classroom. The Wolfpack women were ranked 21st in the WBCA’s Academic Top 25.
The award is given to teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member coaches.
Last year’s Wolfpack team advanced to the NAIA Final Eight for the first time in the program’s history. Loyola also won a program best 28 games last season.
“This award is a testament to the type of student-athletes that we have in our program,” said Head Coach Kellie Kennedy, who was hired on July 7. “It is our goal to continue this tradition of excellence on and off the court.”
This is the second consecutive year that Loyola women’s basketball team has made the WBCA’s Academic Top 25.
