Loyola student artists show creative works in New Orleans gallery

July 11, 2014

Loyola University New Orleans painting students are putting their creative works on display this summer in an exhibition at the Second Story Co-Op Gallery at the New Orleans Healing Center located at 2372 St. Claude Ave. in New Orleans July 12 to Aug. 4. The opening reception Saturday, July 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery offers an opportunity to meet the promising young artists, including Loyola student Margaret Sewell and former student Julia Taylor.

“This exhibition furthers Loyola students’ presence in the New Orleans scene beyond the confines of the university,” said Loyola painting professor Carol Leake.

Loyola students were also strongly represented in the recent exhibition, “Awakening,” held at the Parse Gallery on Carondelet Street in New Orleans. That show, a combined show by Loyola and the University of New Orleans, was juried by Amy Mackie.
