Students take home first-time national student media advertising prize

The Loyola University New Orleans Student Media group returned from Austin, Texas, last week as first-time national winners at the 42nd annual Advertising Awards Competition. The Wolf Graduation Guide, which was printed last fall, was selected as a top five publication in the nation for the Special Section category. The competition was held at the College Newspaper Business & Advertising Managers conference which recognizes the best in advertising and media business among college media companies.
The graduation guide, produced by the Wolf Magazine, is a supplement to The Maroon student newspaper. It provided students with the tools they needed to get ready to choose which graduate school might be the best fit for them.
“This is the first College Newspaper Business & Advertising Managers' award The Maroon has won, and it is a great reflection of how the Student Media staff is working to evolve along with the quickly shifting media business, and find products that are both financially viable, as well as useful to its audience,” said Michael Giusti '00, MBA '12, senior adviser for the student media group.
More than 50 of the nation's top colleges and universities from across the country submitted more than 700 entries to the competition across 36 categories. In total, the national organization recognized 145 winners from 46 different schools. Media and advertising professionals from across the country judged the submissions.
