Washington Garcia masterclass, recital rescheduled
February 21, 2014
Two Loyola University New Orleans Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series events with Ecuadorian-American pianist Washington García, Ph.D., scheduled for today, Feb. 21 have been rescheduled to better accommodate the Uptown Carnival parade schedule. The daytime masterclass and tonight's concert originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. will be rescheduled for the fall. The new dates will be announced in the coming months.
Since Garcia’s debut with the Ecuadorian National Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15, he has been an active recitalist, soloist and lecturer in prestigious venues in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Hungary, Canada, Israel, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and the U.S. His most recent performance at the National Recital Hall in Taiwan was received favorably by the critics and audience, leading to further engagements in Asia in the upcoming season. In the U.S., he has offered solo recitals and master classes in nearly 30 states.
Next fall, Garcia will host a masterclass and a recital at Loyola. Both events will be free and open to the public.
