Women's basketball head coach earns 100th career win with Wolf Pack
December 6, 2013
Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball head coach Kellie Kennedy earned her 100th career victory with the Wolf Pack in a 75-73 thriller game against No. 20 Southern Polytechnic State University Nov. 23. With a 100-52 record for the Wolf Pack, Kennedy reached the century mark faster than any other coach in Loyola women’s athletics history.
“This was a great win against a very tough opponent,” Kennedy said. “It was an absolute team effort. Kylah Jones had a big-time game for us. Janeicia Neely played fantastically. Jasmine Brewer was one rebound shy of a double-double.”
Neely, a junior, played consistently through two halves as she led the Pack with 23 points and six assists. Jones, a freshman, contributed 16 points—two rebounds and one assist. Brewer, a senior, recorded 14 points and steadied the effort on the glass, collecting nine rebounds.
“As the conference season goes on down the road, this is going to be a good win for us,” Kennedy said. “I’m proud of the way we responded. We found ourselves down early and we fought back until the clock hit zero.”
Loyola women's basketball returns to action tonight, Dec. 6 against SUNO with tip off in The Den slated for 7 p.m. Also at Friday's game, one lucky fan will win a pair of tickets for Sunday's Saints tilt against the Carolina Panthers in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday night. Prior to the Saints’ game, Wolf Pack fans can also see the women's hoops team take on Tulane at 4 p.m. in Devlin Fieldhouse. Tickets are $5.
