Alumni named to '40 under 40'
November 8, 2013
Five Loyola University New Orleans alumni were named to Gambit Weekly’s 16th annual “40 Under 40,” which profiles the accomplishments and contributions of 40 standout New Orleanians under the age of 40. The full list can be read in Gambit’s current issue.
Loyola alumni include:
- Darryl Glade M.B.A. ’04, J.D. ’13, was recently accepted into the 2014 class IDEAxcelerator program, an intensive 11-week program run by Idea Village that pairs local startups with established entrepreneurs who will act as mentors. Along with Kris Haug, Glade founded SNAP Real Estate Photography, which produces images for real estate listings, including staging services, photos, floor plans, virtual tours and video, designed to increase the prominence and perceived value of real estate for sale.
- Telley Madina ’05 is a Gulf Coast policy officer with Oxfam America and earlier this year was named as an at-large member of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation. At Oxfam, Madina works with the state of Louisiana, lobbying on issues of coastal restoration, workforce development and fisheries.
- Maximilian G. Ortiz ’02 studied political science at Loyola and is the co-owner and general manager of local restaurants Root and Square Root. Root was named one of the 2013 Diners’ Choice Awards for top Fit for Foodies Restaurants in the U.S., the only New Orleans restaurant to receive the honor.
- Ameca Reali, J.D. ’11 and Adrienne Wheeler, J.D. ’11 are founders of the Justice and Accountability Center of Louisiana, which helps post-conviction offenders build a better quality of life. They recently spearheaded an expungement event in the Treme neighborhood, which guided more than 500 people through the complex process of expunging criminal records, excluding violent felonies, sex offenses and crimes involving minors.
