May 17, 2013
Loyola University New Orleans' Office of Alumni Affairs is hosting the third annual Coach Louis “Rags” Scheuermann Baseball Fundraiser Thursday, May 30 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Roux Room at Walk On’s Bar and Bistreaux, located at 1009 Poydras Street in New Orleans. The event benefits The Coach Louis “Rags” Scheuermann Baseball Scholarship, named in honor of Loyola legend and New Orleans icon—“Rags” Scheuermann.
From 1957 to 1972, Scheuermann led the Wolf Pack baseball team to unprecedented heights, winning 234 games and compiling an impressive .649 winning percentage. He passed away in 1997.
Tickets are $80 per person or $130 per couple, and VIP tables are available for $1,000. The cost includes a buffet, wine, beer and valet parking.
Athletic scholarships were eliminated in 1972 when Loyola disbanded its intercollegiate athletic program. Loyola reinstated its athletics program in the 1990s and athletic scholarships in 2004. The Louis “Rags” Scheuermann Scholarship is the first for Wolf Pack baseball since then.
