Lenten Series concludes with discussion on fasting
March 15, 2013
Loyola University New Orleans’ Jesuit Center presents its final event in the 2013 Lenten Series, “Church in the Desert, Church in the World: Reflections in the Spirit of the Second Vatican Council,” to observe the season of Lent. Co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, the series concludes March 20 with a conversation on fasting.
“For the past six seasons of Lent, Loyola community members have been invited to share together in the spirit of the season. On selected Wednesday evenings during Lent, a speaker or group will help us reflect on the goodness of God and the reason for the season,” said the Rev. Ted Dziak, S.J., director of the Jesuit Center.
“Not by Bread Alone,” an interfaith conversation on fasting, is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 in the Ignatius Chapel of Bobet Hall. Join the Loyola community for a dialogue on the spiritual practice of fasting in the Christian, Hebrew and Muslim faiths as the fruits this ancient and universal practice can bring today are considered.
