Loyola brings home multiple communications, marketing and advertising awards

Loyola University New Orleans students, alumni and staffers were recently recognized for excellence in the fields of marketing, advertising and public relations in two higher education awards competitions and a local advertising club competition.

At the recent New Orleans Advertising Club’s 2013 Addy Awards Gala, Loyola’s National Student Advertising Competition team was recognized with a Gold Addy and Best of Show in the student category for their TV commercial "Speed Date," produced for client Nissan North America. Their winning entry will be submitted for competition in the district Addy Awards.

“We are so proud of the Loyola students and all of their hard work on Rebirth. It was a Gold well earned. We wish them all the best at district,” said Renee Stuart, president of The Ad Club of New Orleans, an American Advertising Federation affiliate.

The team, also known as Rebirth Advertising, includes students Jamie Martin, Kristen Diaz, Ophelia Battle, Edward Schneider, David Aviles and Chika John. Loyola 2012 alumni who were students during the campaign, include Kylie Tregre, John Bickle, Jared Katsoupis, Cristina Chiu and Erica Guastella.

Loyola’s Office of Marketing and Communications earned four awards in the 28th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report. The contest is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country, receiving more than 2,900 entries from over 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools. Loyola staffers won the following awards:

  • GOLD – Total Public Relations Program – Centennial Celebration
  • GOLD – Publication External - LOYNO Magazine Redesign
  • SILVER – Logo/Letterhead – Centennial Letterhead Package
  • MERIT – Annual Report – President’s Annual Report

The Office of Marketing and Communications was also honored with five awards for its outstanding work by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. Of the five awards, three were Awards of Excellence, the highest category of awards CASE offers. Loyola’s Office of Marketing and Communications was recognized at the annual CASE District III Conference in Atlanta last week with the following awards:

  • Award of Excellence – Magazine/Tabloid Improvement – LOYNO Redesign
  • Award of Excellence – Publications Writing – Provost’s Report
  • Award of Excellence – Social Media Strategy and Execution – 100 Days of Giving
  • Special Merit Award – Graphic Design for Print/Digital Specialty Pieces – Montage Cultural Events Calendar
  • Special Merit Award – Total Advertising Campaign – Presidential Centennial Guest Series
